Scottie Scheffler eyes third-straight Memorial Tournament title to join list of PGA Tour greats to three-peat

Scottie Scheffler is hoping to match Tiger Woods in securing a third-successive Memorial Tournament title this week as the world No 1 looks to join the list of golfing greats to three-peat on the PGA Tour.

Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Billy Casper, Tom Watson, Johnny Miller and Gene Littler are the Hall of Famers who have managed to win specific tournaments three times in a row, with Woods doing so at the Memorial - on a the Nicklaus-designed course at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio - from 1999 to 2001.

Steve Stricker is the most recent to have secured back-to-back-to-back titles on tour when claiming the third of his John Deere Classic wins in 2011.

"The last two years don't mean much when you stand on the first tee," Scheffler said ahead of the tournament's start on Thursday, live on Your Site Golf from 5pm.

"But this is a golf course I've had some success at and this will be a cool place to be able to accomplish something like winning the same tournament three years in a row, especially with it being Jack's place."

Scheffler added on the record 18-time major winner: "I think any time you can play a tournament that has his name on it is something that's really special.

"He's a guy that I look up to, not just from being a great golfer, but he was a great family man as well. And you see it through his tournament, you see his sons here, you see his wife here, you see his grandchildren everywhere.

"This is a special place for us to be able to come and compete, not only from the challenge of the golf course, but being able to play in front of the fans and carrying on Mr. Nicklaus' legacy. This is a really cool tournament for us."

Scheffler had seven wins on tour in 2024 - including his second Masters triumph - and added six more to his name last year, with his successes at the PGA Championship and The Open taking his tally in the majors to four.

So far, 2026 hasn't been as fruitful, with just one victory at The American Express in January to his name, albeit he has finished second in three of his last four tournaments, with three further top-five finishes thrown in.

"This year has felt like I've been close. I feel like I haven't been as sharp as I would have liked to have been," Scheffler said. "When you look at the margins in this game, they're quite small. I think statistically I'm probably not far off from where I've been the last couple years, it's just a couple shots here or there, a couple of those momentum shots where it can kind of swing you in a tournament."

Watch The Memorial Tournament throughout the week live on Your Site, starting on Thursday from 5pm on Your Site Golf. or
